Health, Safety And Environment RepresentativeRoyal Norwegian Consulate General In Rio De Janeiro Feb 2018 - Feb 2024Rio De Janeiro Area, BrazilAs the elected Health, Safety and Environment Representative for the third 2-year mandate, I have furthered the improvement on health, safety, and environment assessments, acting as a watchdog and whistleblower. I have overseen appraisals on evaluations, with the consequent support in the elaboration and follow-up of annual plan propositions. Not less importantly, performing the role of an ombudsperson has taught me immensely on team dynamics, personalities, discretion, trust and efforts to render the work environment safe and pleasant. Besides having attended top development courses on team management and work environment in Oslo and Mexico City, I have been elected three times in a row for the madate of HSE, which is the maximum allowed. I have always coordinated team building gatherings and followed up on lessons learned and recommended actions. Following the conduct of brainstorming sessions and group dynamics, I have led the elaboration and compliance of action plans. A recent outcome of such activities was a Code of Conduct I wrote and presented together with peer colleagues within the Diversity, Inclusion & Equality Committee of Team Norway Brazil. Moreover, the Employee Survey in the Foreign Service 2023 conveyed 99% of positive results for our station in view of our records and in comparison with other missions. The survey comprised statements relative to the balance between job resources and job demands, and addressed topics such as role and information clarity, involvement, autonomy, efficiency, cooperation, and leadership. The overall equation between well being and strain in the work environment has shown, during my mandate as HSE, satisfactory individual and organizational outputs in terms of increased productivity, job satisfaction, and reduced sickness absence.
