I am the Social Services Outreach Specialist for the City of Rolling Meadows Police Department. In this position I have been able to expand my expertise to other areas of mental health and social services, and work with persons of diverse cultures, perspectives, issues, and resources. My work allows me to intervene in a variety of situations including crisis intervention, court advocacy, as well as supportive services for families coping with traumatic events such as sexual abuse, domestic violence, elder abuse, homelessness prevention, and general social services needs. I work closely with police officers and detectives, as well as personnel from the City’s community development department, community agencies, schools, and hospitals who encounter individuals and families that are in need of assistance. I continuously work to establish a strong presence in the community by providing numerous trainings and workshops for both the English and Spanish-speaking communities about topics related to child development, self-esteem, parenting skills, and violence and abuse prevention, and work to develop anti-violence programs providing alternatives to street crime, gang affiliations, and violent behavior for juveniles. I am also in charge of assisting seniors, mentally ill and families at risk of homeless.I am extremely grateful to be able to do the work I do and look forward to continuing to address the complex and unique needs of many families and individuals.
