About Natalie Bridgeman Fields
Natalie Bridgeman Fields is a leader in the movement for rights-focused climate and environmental justice. Her diverse experience as a lawyer, consultant, educator, and founding executive director spans her passions for advancing corporate accountability, project finance accountability, intersectional rights-based approaches to justice work, ethical investing, media and communications for change making, movement building, and advocacy alongside people speaking truth to power. She has litigated cases against oil companies in Peru, has sued human rights abusers in US courts and won, and has led environmental victories in multiple world regions. She is a community and network builder, and enjoys mentoring and supporting the career of young lawyers and activists. Natalie is currently leading the International Program at Earthjustice. Previously, Natalie was the founder and 14-year executive director of Accountability Counsel. She began Accountability Counsel with an Echoing Green Fellowship, and later a Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation fellowship, building on a decade of her advocacy for the rights of predominantly Indigenous and traditional communities harmed by internationally financed projects. She led the organization’s growth from a concept to a preeminent and sustainable global organization of community-driven lawyers, policy advocates, and researchers working to amplify the voices of people to defend their environmental and human rights. Natalie has been a TEDx speaker, and regularly guest lectures at policy, law, and business schools, as well as at conferences, meeting and events worldwide.Apart from victories for people and the planet, Natalie is proudest of her three budding environmental-justice-advocate children.
