President - Cwa Karratha & Districts Branch (Volunteer)
Country Women'S Association Of Western Australia Inc Feb 2019 - Feb 2021
    Karratha, Western Australia, Australia
As member appointed President, 2 years (2019/20) consecutively my goal for the branch was to become a cohesive and active organisation in the community. This was initially achieved through implementation of governance for our newly formed (2018) branch by streamlining agreed primary and formal communication tools, maintaining scheduled meetings which provided members with consistency and reliability. This also allowed for more substantial meeting outcomes, forward planning and member involvement. This then enabled us to focus on our mission and purpose of friendship, togetherness and helping our community. In 2019 we engaged, supported and raised funds for numerous local community organisations and activities including Pilbara Community Services, Karratha Scouts, Exmouth CWA, City of Karratha, Karratha Women’s Place, Karratha Health Campus, Lions Club and Share The Dignity. In addition, raising funds for our branch to contribute to our newly created ‘Emergency Fund’, State Conference attendance and alike. This was achieved through running a sausage sizzle, selling CWA books and tea towels at FeNaCING Festival and organising a carwash. In 2020 the global COVID19 pandemic hit, and we had to adjust the way we engaged with each other and the wider community. We shifted focus to community grants to support events and projects in the future. We also initiated the ‘Thank You’ Campaign where we delivered thank you gifts, flowers, lunches and lamingtons purchased from local businesses and given to essential workers such as police, teachers, service stations and hospital staff in Karratha and Roebourne. This campaign was received extremely well, receiving many tags and appreciation posts on social media.
