About Natalie Germann

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Natalie Germann (b. 1982) is full professor in process systems engineering (W3 mit Leitungsfunktion) at the University of Stuttgart. She studied food science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ), Switzerland, and received her PhD from the same institution in 2011. From 2011 to 2014, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the University of Delaware, USA. In 2014, she moved to the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany, where she worked as professor and head of the Fluid Dynamics of Complex Biosystems group. From 2021-2022, she worked as permanent faculty member for fluid mechanics (W2) at TU Dortmund University. Before joining the University of Stuttgart in 2022, she received several faculty offers, including from KU Leuven and TU Eindhoven.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Natalie Germann is a deputy editor of Physics of Fluids. She is also a Representative Individual Member of the European Society of Rheology and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of ProcesssNet Subject Division Computational Fluid Dynamics. Her research focuses on soft materials of industrial importance with the aim of uncovering the relationship between internal structural and macroscopic material properties and how processing can be designed or optimized to obtain desired product properties. The research approach combines thermodynamic modeling and numerical simulation with experiments.
