I was fortunate enough to not fall through the cracks despite the limited resources I've received throughout my educational journey. Coming from a low-income and primarily Latino populated neighborhood, I was able to participate in an afterschool program, YMCA, where I was able to create meaningful relationships with other children and staff along with receiving academic help. Moving into middle and high school, I have had the pleasure of meeting dedicated teachers and counselors who genuinely believed in their students and their potential. Since then I have been an advocate for equality in education and the well-being of students. As a sociology major, I am able to to understand people from different cultures and engage with them effectively and have a critical and analytical way of thinking. This allows me to recognize the struggles that students with a low income, and different race/ethncity background experience. Because of my passion for students to have an equal and fair access to a remarkable education, I am looking to work at an organization that is committed to give the resources needed for students to tap into their full potential. During my free time, I enjoy watching cooking videos and trying to recreate them, enjoying the outdoors and watching documentaries
