International Transport Manager
My job at LKW Walter was a part of my year abroad. I actively sought a job which would give me industry experience and help me to choose a career path. At LKW Walter I was responsible for the exports from Ireland, to Germany and the UK. On a daily basis, I managed the delivery and reloads of around 20 trailers, working with key Irish clients and ensuring that each trailer was where it should be. I also worked to ensure that our drivers based in Ireland were always given a fair amount of work. I developed existing relationships by improving communication with our clients, and this was later noted in a testimonial to that effect. It was a challenging and interesting job and I constantly learnt more about the job and about myself. LKW Walter taught me many new skills and I thoroughly enjoyed the diverse responsibilities of the role.
English Language Assistant
For the first part of my year abroad in France and Austria, I chose to work as a language assistant in France. Student Ambassador
I was recruited as a Student Ambassador after I discovered this position was available for current students. This was a marketing role and taught me how to represent the brand, and how to provide a positive experience for the thousands of visitors during the open days.

Student Representative: Representing my fellow students in our second year studying French at the university of Nottingham – sharing their queries/issues with the staff student consultative committee. This was an elected position - my peers nominated me to be their voice throughout this year.
