This involved me supporting the academic team, the apprentices and their employers at each stage. As ACL, I conducted applicant recruitment interviews; reviewed initial needs assessments; created and delivered induction sessions; assisted with the course re-design and restructure; future-proofed the course design through IFATE apprenticeship standard mapping and alignment; monitored and responded to student concerns and welfare issues; attended course committee meetings to aid the development of the course and the student experience through the collaboration with Student Representatives; supported academic colleagues in the development and delivery of their modules; supported Academic Mentor colleagues with the development and implementation of their role. Supporting the high performance of colleagues is part of the role I am particularly proud of, including the creation of protocols regarding tripartite meeting and EPA Gateway to aid colleagues to deliver a high quality of experience through standardisation of practices and compliance with Government funding and OFSTED expectations. End-Point Assessment (EPA) Lead and CMI Course LiaisonAs ACL, I was the course lead for ensuring the apprentices’ readiness, compliance and completion of the EPA. This involved monitoring EPA Gateway processes and compliance, delivery of preparation workshops, embedding the EPA throughout the duration of the course, supporting Academic Mentors with EPA Tripartite protocol, as well as promoting the importance of timely portfolio development/reviewing throughout the course. The need for continuous portfolio monitoring led me to develop my L5 and L6 Professional Manager modules to include formative and summative assessment of the portfolios. Show less

As a module leader I redesigned the levels 4, 5 and 6 Developing the Professional Manager modules on the CMDA, to become a 3-year suite that complement each other and build the apprentices’ leadership knowledge, skills and behaviours over the duration of their apprenticeship. With a focus on academically underpinned experiential practice in the workplace, reflective practice, self-awareness, empowerment and emotional intelligence development, I ensured the suite utilised creative pedagogies, blended learning, portfolio evidencing and mentoring to support the growth of the apprentice to be an effective, inclusive and ethical leader. I additionally supervised CMDA level 6 work-based research projects and level 7 MBA consultancy projects, by supporting: business need identification; project plan and timeframe development; research design and methods; project implementation, evaluation, dissemination and presentation; navigation of workplace structures and politics; and identification of PPD needs and opportunities.Combining my experiences in student engagement and leadership roles, my interest in creative pedagogies and my Lego® Serious Play® (LSP) Facilitator skills, I aim to create learning environments that encourage the engagement and attainment of all students. With an academic focus on the enhancement of leadership practices in the workplace, I strive to collaborate with colleagues, students, industry employers and like-minded academics to enhance leadership education. My achievements towards this focus include: membership of the CMDA national trailblazer group; re-designing the CMDA course as an ACL; creating a suite of Professional Manager modules; supporting fellow academics to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to use creative pedagogies and LSP through the delivery of staff training, team-teaching, session collaboration and module development sound-boarding. Within my Senior Lecturer role, I undertook Academic Mentor duties for the CMDA. As an Academic Mentor, I supported individual apprentices with navigating their 4-year long apprenticeship journey, from initial induction through to the End-point assessment. As the main point of contact and pastoral support for the apprentice mentee, a significant part of the role was maintaining an open, approachable and supportive relationship to ensure that their wellbeing and progression were prioritised. To ensure continuous progression, wellbeing and funding compliance of the apprentice I conducted quarterly tripartite meetings with the apprentices and their Workplace/Employer Mentor, both virtually and in the workplace. A significant part of the role required the development and maintenance of this tripartite relationship to allow for honest, transparent and challenging conversations to take place, which ensured the continued progress monitoring of the apprentices’ wellbeing and development. This included supporting the apprentice and their employer with; planning and monitoring academic performance and workplace skills development towards the apprenticeship standard; portfolio evidencing of growth; identification of apprentices’ personal and professional development needs; as well as the identification of barriers and opportunities within the institution and the workplace.
