My role is to ensure that all levels of Quality are achieved and sustained within the business. Using ISO 9000 as the structure, this is achieved by monitoring a scorecard of KPIs, finding new ways to measure performance and driving Continual Improvement, Documentation Data Records and Control and Corrective and Preventive Actions. The audit process (Operational, Quality and HSE) measures sustainability; Process Improvement is achieved through the mapping and understanding of the 'as is' process and defining a 'to be' process; and the standardising of processes Nationally and Globally ensures uniformity.

This role consisted of a little bit of every thing:As an Executive Assistant to the Coastal Director, I arranged flights, accommodation and car hire. I Co-ordinated functions, such as get-togethers and conferences. I facilitated the monthly forecasts for the Coastal region (Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal) to ensure that managers are within their monthly budgets, especially in relation to the months revenue. At month end I co-ordinated the monthly variance reports and KPI reports for the Coastal region. All branch assets were managed and purchased through me. At month end, I co-ordinated and prepared financial Coastal reporting packs for the Coastal Directors monthly Executive meeting. I was actively involved in the branch audit processes within the company to ensure that high levels of performance are met and maintained. Any projects that the Divisional Director was involved in I was close behind doing the leg work.In addition to the Executive Assistant function, my portfolio included looking after the revenue within the Western Cape (Cape Town, George, Paarl, Swellendam and Vredenburg Branches), ensuring that all necessary processes were in place to ensure all invoicing is completed and prevent any revenue leaks at any point in time. It is important to continuously revisit the process to identify areas that need to be reworked to ensure all processes are seamless and all revenue streams are complete. I also looked after the creditors department that ensures our suppliers are paid. This involved managing the branches expenses, making sure all invoices are received and processed timeously and accurately.The local IT department, whose core focus is our clients and the setup and support of dispatch sites, also fell under my portfolio. I had 2 IT people, a Creditors Clerk, a Data Capture supervisor (with 11 data capturers under her) reporting to me.

Western Cape

I was accountable for 8 branches across the Cape Region. I managed, guided, coached and mentored the branch managers and their staff, growing them through the sharing of my knowledge and experience. I was responsible for budgeting and forecasting figures for the financial year, generating revenue and managing costs according to the budget; managing the variances accordingly month on month and year on year. I ensured that the correct operational processes were followed through quarterly branch audits and I was also responsible for the implementation of any new processes that were introduced into the operation. I was continuously on the lookout for any new opportunities that would improve the overall business. This required regular traveling within the Western and Eastern Cape Region (Paarl, Swellendam, Vredenburg, George, Cradock, Umtata, Springbok, East London)

I joined the Project Office as a Project Manager for the Cape Region. This involved planning, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, managing and maintaining agreed to roles and functions by the project across the country, working towards meeting deadlines and many hours of traveling.

Eastern Cape

I facilitated the rollout of Six Sigma in the Eastern Cape, by creating Six Sigma awareness. My role was to manage new projects using a blend of Six Sigma tools, implement completed projects, maintain implemented projects and ensure the sustainability of these projects. This included monthly quality audits, as well as recording and analyzing of monthly operational statistics, to ensure continuous improvement.As a side line function, I was the IT support for business and clients in the East London branch. This involved day-to-day support to the branch users and clients that made use of our dispatch systems.

Johannesburg Area, South Africa

I supported the Divisional Directors and the Sales Team with strategic sales, focusing on Supply Chain Solutions within the UTi Group – this involved client analysis, proposals and presentations. I facilitated war room sessions to look for opportunities and / or new approaches with our large existing and or potential clients.I played a role in launching the Supply Chain Council (an American based Council) in South Africa by inviting prospective members and hosting a national road show – of which UTi was the main sponsor.
