The Office of Residence Life at Drake University is committed to empowering students in their personal growth and development while providing them with the support and opportunities for involvement. Our goal is to integrate living and learning while supporting the educational goals of our students and the institution. - Supervised staff of 10 Resident Assistants (RAs), 1-2 Assistant Residence Hall Coordinators (ARHCs) and 2 Full-time Desk Receptionists Supported and encouraged programming for a positive, inclusive community of 462 students in three residence halls (Morehouse, Ross and Jewett) - Managed administrative needs of halls including facility concerns, occupancy, conduct audits, and room assignments/consolidation Advised and counseled students on personal and academic matters, making referrals as necessary - Responsible for the initial and second contact with residents who violate residence hall and / or university policies through educational sanctioning and intervention - Advised hall government, National Residence Hall Honorary Association (NRHH), Engaged Citizenship House and other residence life organizations/activities - Responsible for desk operations, which included the selection, training, organization, scheduling and supervision of the desk staff (2 Full-time Receptionists and 24+ student employees)- Participated in an on-call duty rotation and responded to conduct concerns or emergency situations in residence halls Assisted with development and selection of student and professional staff- Maintained fiscal and ethical responsibility for hall budget - Reviewed, updated, presented, facilitated and coordinated Spring Staff Development and staff assessment modules (25+ presentations or guest speakers)- Co-Instructed the following courses for the RAs: Identity (Self and Resident) Community, Counseling Issues and Skills, Equity and Inclusiveness, Communication / Confrontation and Documentation and Differences and Building Community
