I primarily acted for social housing tenants in a range of homelessness, possession, injunction and disrepair cases. Homelessness encompassed statutory reviews, appeals, judicial reviews and unlawful eviction and harassment, and advising in respect of the statutory duties of local authorities towards homeless applicants, eligibility and allocation. I also provided general housing advice covering a wide range of issues including tenancy agreements, succession, housing policies and procedures of councils and housing associations, allocation of social housing, and accommodation under the Children Act. I was also involved in community care law in this department, advising in respect of local authority obligations to provide services for youths and other vulnerable people.
