Profile bio

About Natalie Darves, Mba

Passionate about business development, I have spent the last 15 years as an Entrepreneur and Business Strategy Consultant, driving business growth and relations across diverse organizations, including startups, private corporations, and public organizations. My expertise in managing business establishment and growth within the highly regulated cannabis industry has allowed me to work across education, government, and private organizations. Currently, I am the Founder and Managing Partner of Cougar Acres Consulting, nurturing business strategy and partnerships across multiple clients, with a focus on providing business development consultation for entrepreneurship and revenue generation. Through these efforts I build strong relationships with major state and city government and aspiring entrepreneurs.I have helped dozens of licensed operators and leading ancillary businesses to develop strategic growth plans and crafted winning license applications. My company, Cougar Acres Consulting (CAC) has been on the other side of the application process too. I worked with teams hired by state regulators to grade thousands of applications for business licenses in new cannabis markets. My original educational content has been presented to numerous governmental bodies, including local cannabis policymakers, law enforcement agencies, state taxing authorities, and environmental protection agencies. Through CAC's work with flagship client, Oaksterdam University, the first and longest-running cannabis college in the world, I have engaged directly with hundreds of future entrepreneurs and professionals and have developed thousands of hours of original curriculum in business, horticulture, and product formulation. All of my work is informed by my experience as a legacy grower in Northern California during the pre-adult use era, and my participation in formative regulatory efforts. I currently serve on the City of Portland’s Cannabis Policy Oversight Team, Co-Chair the Cannabis Competency subcommittee and assisted with Mendocino County’s 9.31 “zip tie” program, which was the first effort by local government to regulate cannabis in the United States.
