I designed a novel protocol for PER data collection that tests the effects of fungicidal odor pollution on both learning and recognition of a common floral scent. I assist in running GC/MS to identify the organic odorants within each fungicide in order to mathematically calculate the degrees of differences between each specific odor. I have gained proficiency in R programming language and design figures, run statistical analyses for PER behavioral data collection, and calculate mathematical vectors from GC/MS data. Additionally, I act as a liaison for our lab with local farmers to identify field sites to test our theory of agrochemical odor pollution on bumblebee foraging behavior. Currently, I am designing an RFID based tracking system to monitor bumblebee foraging rates across increasing distances in our established field sites. This past semester, I have taken on a mentorship role to a new student on my project, teaching this student not only data collection techniques but also how to think critically about the results. This summer, I will launch colonies at local field sites, to understand how my lab findings translate to natural environments.
I am a Level II peer tutor with experience in General Chemistry I, II, Principles of Biology I, II, and III. As part of my role as a Peer Tutor, I attended tutor training sessions in subjects such as the importance of resilience, stress management, and supporting international students. I really enjoy meeting new students and forming a connection with them. The sciences (especially on the pre-health track) can be stressful and intimidating. Every tutoring session, I work to bolster my tutees’ confidence in their academic skills. I am an advocate for my tutees when they need extra support.

I filled customers’ orders by preparing food and beverages. I helped maintain the cleanliness of the store and oversaw coffee preparation. I assisted customers when they had difficulties with the menu. Something I found interesting was being able to talk to such a wide variety of people. This specific store is located next to a highway exit, meaning we get many truck drivers and general travelers in addition to locals. I liked being able to earn a good day’s pay with solid work I completed with my own two hands. I learned a lot of patience with customers who were sometimes impatient. I learned how to rely on my coworkers and work as a team during rush hours. I had to focus on performing tasks in a timely manner while also communicating with my customers and coworkers. Through it all, the team remained positive and supportive.

The Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF) is a 10-week experiential, conversational seminar for students looking to deepen their understanding of Judaism. The most important thing JLF gave me is a sense of community and a much larger appreciation for my Jewish identity. I left the fellowship with a deeper understanding of the wisdom found in Jewish texts, both ancient and contemporary, and my own personal values and relationship with Jewish tradition. JLF was founded in 2007 at the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life at NYU. Since then, JLF has graduated over 3,000 fellows
I have self-directed my holistic biology education to emphasize broader ecological learning and connections. I am also a Jewish Studies.
