Dental Assistant, Advertising Coordinator
I have proudly worked for Bridgepointe Family Dentistry for 7 years. Over the past few years, I have taken charge as a dental assistant, working beside Dr. Susan Toni, DMD, FAGD, and in the front desk interacting with patients. More recently, I was promoted to head of marketing and advertising, which has required me to manipulate social media platforms, specifically Facebook, to attract patients to the practice and make them want to come to the dentist on a regular basis. My most recent challenge has been to advertise for a second location that they have recently opened, and by sending letters to nearby towns and reaching out to local community forums on Facebook, I have been taking great strides to helping the practice grow.
Intern
I've enjoyed one of the most amazing summers of my life thanks to AT&T. Although I was positioned in the Global Systems and Integrator Solutions organization under Tom Pisciotta, AVP and John Potter, VP, I was really eager to develop my interests in Natural Language Processing and Big Data, so I also became a team member of the AT&T Labs organization. I've accomplished so much in so little time:- As I alluded to earlier, I really wanted to use this summer to experience and solve real world problems related to Natural Language Processing and Big Data. My main goal this summer was to step out of my comfort zone and pursue projects with members of AT&T Labs. I'm happy to say that I've achieved that goal.- Within AT&T labs, G&SI, and several other organizations, I networked with several executives and interns and developed wonderful relationships amongst my peers- I developed an automated Technical Solution Document (TSD)- I taught myself VBA, Python, and R over a span of 8 weeks.- I developed a text mining tool that normalizes text from customer surveys and chats.- I created a program that will detect two concatenated words and separate them (e.g. "helloworld" --> "hello world")- I became a team leader in the Intern Case Challenge. - I was an avid member of the Women of AT&T and NAACP Employee Resource Groups (ERG)- I volunteered at the Women of AT&T Anniversary event- I mentored and helped host high school students on four occasions- I volunteered at the Flemington Food Pantry with my interns and supervisor
Research Assistant
In collaboration with my mentor Wenjin Chen, Dr. David Foran, the Department of Biomedical Imaging, and several pathologists at CINJ and Robertwood Johnson Hospital, I focused on two projects, one of which was published in October 2018. In the first project, I developed a pipeline using the CellProfiler software to segment prostate glands and tuberculosis cells. In the second project, I taught myself how to use Matlab and used it as a playground to analyze digital images of pathology slides and understand how certain dye colors to stain tumors can be perceived differently to the human eye and potentially lead to misdiagnosis.
Intern
I was honored to gain exposure to both the pediatric and cardiology fields at Children's Mercy Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. There, I shadowed Dr. Louay Toni, MD, Dr. Arpan Doshi, MD, and Jenny Ecord, RN, MSN, APRN. I developed a strong understanding of the complexity of cardiac issues that can arise when a baby is born. Additionally, I not only learned how to think critically about solving such complex cases, but also how to think quickly on my feet to establish a diagnosis and treatment plan for patients in the short time allotted.
Summer Intern At The Department Of Chemical And Biological Engineering
At Princeton University, I conducted summer research under the care of Dr. Mark Brynildsen. I applied laboratory and statistical techniques to analyze, from a more biological perspective, how pseudomonas Aeruginosa, a deadly strain of bacteria associated with Cystic Fibrosis, has the ability to resist antibiotics.
