In this role, in addition to managing a cluster of school and university relationships, I gained line management responsibilities, supporting my team of Programme Officers to ensure excellent programme management across the region. I was also responsible for managing the renewal of school partnerships in the North East and Yorkshire, and supporting on sales to new schools in these areas.Once again, it was of utmost importance to build positive, supportive relationships with teachers, PhD tutors and wider stakeholders, but also with school SLT and budget-holders. Within this role, I developed as a positive and proactive manager of people, with a commitment to high standards and the delivery of excellent outcomes within my team.

In this role, I managed a cluster of school placements, working with teachers and university widening participation staff to arrange programme logistics, and managing a team of PhD tutors to design and deliver their courses in schools. I was responsible for elements of direct programme provision, e.g. PhD tutor training, pupil and parent-facing sessions on university trips, and supported PhD tutors to deliver others (e.g. course design, in-school tutorials). The role required dynamism and teamwork, but especially strong project management skills. Success in this role depended on the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with teachers, PhD tutors and university staff - fundamental to The Brilliant Club’s collaborative model.
