•Oversaw, monitored, and supported all technical and colony management services (CMS) for rodent breeding colonies maintained by DCM in early stages of program development, ensured all procedures and requests were conducted in compliance with all departmental SOPs, monitored and reported staff issues to the Assistant Operations Director (AOD) for appropriate corrective action, recruited new PIs to the program.•Key Achievements: Grew the program from 8 colonies to 30, expanded research services available to include necropsy, treatments (injection, gavage), breeding consultation, colony management lecture and hands on training, developed and wrote Colony Management Core IACUC protocol to earn an official “core” designation, increased CMC visibility by creating and maintaining a current website, by its addition to the core listings in the university database, and by other marketing events; increased profitability of the breeding core for DCM by recruiting new PIs, streamlined and automated billing procedures, streamlined and updated colony database templates and animal ID systems, obtained server space for important breeding data storage, developed breeding/colony management SOPs, drove CMS growth to a core status (CMC) within 6 months of taking over.

My part is to implement "quality of life" behavioral studies in treated mouse models which hopefully soon lead to a clinical trial.

My job entailed set up and completion of developmental studies requiring diverse types of behavioral evaluations, pharmacological regiments, survival surgeries, and biological sample collection. I played a key role in implementing and validating a mouse cognitive operant task for the behavioral core (5CSRT) and conducted initial studies to evaluate mouse models of autism using the task.
