The global lighting industry is going through a rapid transformation towards LED and Connected Lighting systems. The growing demand for Connected lighting throws up challenges in terms of scalability, reliability, security & privacy of the systems for professional use.As Head of Philips Lighting team in Bangalore, established a new & high performing software development team, ramping upto 170 engineers, for Connected Lighting Systems across 3 distinct segments (Outdoor, Office & Retail), including a Solution & Integration team working closely with end Customers.Teams were setup across diverse competences (Cloud & Enterprise Applications; Mobile Applications; Data Analytics; Embedded Control Software; System Integration & Validation).Moved up accountabilities in the site from Software implementation to System level ownership (Product management, System Architecture & Key market support team) providing more value to the businesses.Strategic functional leader linking teams with global businesses, delivering on business roadmaps, with clear site level Strategy, KPIs & improvement initiatives, driving operational excellence, deploying best practices to continuously improve competence and productivity in the teams.Maintained high employee engagement via several initiatives (competence management, recognition, and empowerment). High employee retention on comparable terms in the industry.Commercially launched an occupancy sensor developed locally for Indian Market

Established a unique Global Interoperability and Certification Center for Connectivity technologies including HDMI, WiFi, Bluetooth & DLNA for the Consumer Electronics businesses across the continents (DVD, Set-top-box, TV, Cables, Music players). This was a one stop final interoperability and Certification test house (with a large device farm), before the products were commercially launched.Established a HDMI Authorised Test Center - a logo certification test house certified by www.hdmi.orgExtended the HDMI Certification tests to several internal and external customers. Participation in Standardisation bodies.

Managed the application software development teams for creating the first digital TVs (supporting Digital broadcast for NA and European markets)
