As the current American Geosciences Institute/AAAS Congressional Science & Technology Policy Fellow, Natasha's focus is on bridging the gap between scientific research and legislative action. Her career goals focus on working at the intersection of science and policy, where she can contribute to the analysis and development of policy recommendations in addition to science communication and STEM outreach. Prior to the AAAS STPF, she earned her Ph.D. (Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering) and the Science, Technology, and Public Policy graduate certificate from the University of Michigan where she was a NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program recipient and a U-M Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship recipient. Her doctoral work focused on understanding the science behind greenhouse gas emissions (i.e. nitrous oxide) from agricultural soil, policies focused on agricultural emissions, and the framework needed to foster engagement between academia and community partners.Prior to her Ph.D., she spent one year working for SSAI at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as an associate research scientist in the Earth Sciences Division. She earned a B.S. in Mathematics-Physics and Environmental Studies from the College of Idaho.
