About Natasha Gilbert

My current aim is to help modernize the counselling industry, providing high tech, smart and affordable websites to counsellors with my new business, Kite Talk. Most counsellors in private practice are self-funded, paying for everything from their own pocket. So it can be hard to afford a top quality online presence. The first phase of Kite Talk are websites and web hosting for counsellors at only £10 a month. The second phase will be to develop a new, high tech directory and app, which will be far more affordable than preexisting directories, and free for our customers with websites. I began to work on my overarching aim when I created one of the first online booking systems where clients could instantly book and pay for an appointment on our counsellor calendar. The Well Being Therapy Centre continues to use this system, which has served thousands of clients since 2016.Why I love counselling? As well as running my counselling businesses, I am training in transactional analysis psychotherapy and coaching clients of my own. Prior to this, I have a history in business and communication management, always for NGOs / ethical companies. I am also a mental health and body positive activist.

    My biggest achievement at Housing Justice was the Tell My Story Campaign that I created. I collected stories from people suffering as result of the Bedroom Tax and made an eye catching website, where you are able to click on the face of each case study and read about their experience. The campaign got picked up by The Huffington Press, which lead to a sudden and sharp increase in our email sign ups and donations. I did this on top of my ordinary duties, purely out of an interest in activism and a passion for the cause. My general responsibilities included:- Recording and batching finances using Raiser’s Edge and Donor Direct - Handling order requests for company products and merchandise - Adding, editing and updating constituent records on Raiser’s Edge - Management of reception duties, e.g. answering the telephone and showing guests into the office - Full management of incoming and outgoing post, supplies orders, and organisation of couriers - Online communications: passing on shelter data to consultants, sending out event information to conference/forum delegates, and responding to emails in the central office inbox - Creating a complex database for the collation and analysis of data taken from trainee feedback scores - Updating and editing the staff diary - Event administration: booking of venues, staff accommodation and travel, management and collection of data from eventbrite bookings, production of delegate packs and corporate badges, updating the event budget, and sending out invoices to unpaid attendees - Taking of minutes in staff meeting and forums

    Whilst volunteering as a practical assistant and befriender at the Milton Keynes Winter Night Shelter for two seasons, I organised regular music performances for guests. Before starting work at Housing Justice, I held a fundraising concert for the shelter at one of Britain’s biggest shopping centres, with entertainment that brought thousands to a standstill. The two-hour event had zero costs and made a profit of £460 for the charity in donations.
