Fraunhofer CSE is part of the larger organization of Fraunhofer Geselleschaft, a German research institute which focuses on applied research and industry partnerships.As a Research Fellow at Fraunhofer CSE, I worked on two contracts. The first contract involved quantifying human operator errors during power grid failures using cognitive task analysis and human reliability analysis (SPAR-H, CADET); this is a multi-year project undertaken in conjunction with the University of New Mexico. I also worked with the Solar Energy Group on a project focused on overcoming individual cognitive barriers to adopting innovative solar PV technology. This project entailed soliciting salient beliefs regarding solar PV from focus group participants, building an online experiment in Qualtrics, data collection and analysis and writing comprehensive reports. This is a multi-year contract research project in conjunction with the SunShot Initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.

My research specialty at Michigan Tech is human performance and individual differences with a secondary emphasis on risk and decision making. My current research examines decision making processes during complex decisions such as retirement and investment.

Northwest Michigan Works delivers programs and services for the 10 counties of Northwest Michigan. Our primary service categories are: workforce development; business & economic development; and community development. Networks Northwest is the convening agency for the Regional Prosperity Initiative in these ten counties.As a training specialist at Michigan Works! I planned and developed a program of employability skills for dislocated workers which included selecting and developing training materials, recruiting instructors, facilitating workshops, and incorporating feedback into iterations of the training program.
