Postdoctoral researcher in the School of Earth and Environment on a European funded project. This role has involved coordinating and analysing stakeholder interviews, and understanding the business case and potential business models for the promotion of NBS across multiple scales.

This research position involves continuing the research work started during my PhD and preparing the documents for the completion of the EU LIFE project.

The title of my final PhD thesis was 'The effects of waste derived fertilisers and composts on crop production'. The research for this work took place at the Leeds University farm and at Stockbridge Technology centre, focused on arable and horticultural crops and their responses to growing in novel growing media and with alternatives to mineral fertilisers.In 2016 I presented my work at the ORBIT conference in Crete, and in 2015 I presented my research at conferences in Murcia, Hamburg and Leeds and have enjoyed the networking opportunities these experiences presented. In previous years during my studies I have presented my work at international conferences in Godollo in Hungary in 2014 and also in Versailles in 2013.In addition to my studies I was asked to lecture the undergraduate students in Civil Engineering for the ecology and biodiversity segments. I also assisted in running four field courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students on freshwater monitoring and rural development.

Promotion to a project manager this company, with the responsibility for meeting clients, writing proposals and setting up projects. Being the main contact for these projects and completing the majority of the field and technical work was required to provide a detailed report for the client.Developing expertise in protected species surveys was an enjoyable part of this role, including those for great crested newts, badgers, bats, water voles, otters, and birds. Experience also gained in producing phase 1 habitat GIS plans and reports and also NVC habitat work.

During this role I was responsible for carrying out EIAs, rare flora surveys and trapping surveys on a variety of projects from mining to road schemes. Fieldwork in a variety of habitats from more temperate areas with dense forest and desert surveys in isolated areas, both provided different challenges.Alongside the ecological work in this role I also managed projects for water sampling, bore drilling and core sampling. This involved knowledge of the geotechnical aspects of the local soils and technical expertise with drill management and direction.
