A restaurant entrepreneur devoted to building a restaurant company by improving the way people experience dining and the industry writ large.* After years of running pop ups and searching for a permanent space, GERTIE, a bright + colorful modern Jew-ish American restaurant opened in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to critical acclaim. We were open for one year when COVID shut the city down, and pivoted from restaurant to non-profit soup kitchen to bagel shop over the course of the year to stay afloat. While still running non-profit operations indefinitely, GERTIE is a community space for all and we hope to remain a fixture in the Brooklyn dining for years to come. * In between the opening of Huertas and my newest restaurant GERTIE, I found a lot of opportunity as a restaurant consultant, focusing on the financial aspects of running an F+B business. In 2018, I became the acting CFO of Delicious Hospitality a multi-unit restaurant group in NYC. I also started a consulting company called Whitebox Hospitality, working with Real Estate developers to add value to their properties through F+B.* In 2014, in partnership with Chef Jonah Miller, I opened Huertas a mid sized Spanish restaurant in the East Village as a managing partner, general manager + beverage director. In the first year, we received a 2 Star review in the New York Times which helped keep the doors open for years to come. In fact, Huertas recently had it's seven year anniversary, a huge accomplishment in a notoriously difficult industry. * In 2011, after graduating college, I successfully opened Blue Smoke (Battery Park City) as a floor manager, leading a staff of 40+ employees and working my way up to corporate beverage director for both Blue Smoke units.* Founded Kitchen, a start-up food business, which utilized locally-sourced ingredients to provide healthy and affordable “home-cooked” meals to Penn students and the surrounding community.* At Kitchen, lead a profitable launch, serving over 1500 customers and breaking even in 3 months.* University of Pennsylvania Dual Degree in Wharton Business Management & Political Science * Born and Raised in New York City
