In 2022, I was lucky enough to join a truly amazing team of behavior technicians, therapists, and substance use counselors working with youth that struggle with managing their mental health and substance use. As a BT my duties included:- Attending supervisions and end of day meetings.- Planning and leading skill-based groups (Skills, MHT, and CBT), typing up group skills notes, and auditing notes.- Communicating with/leading Burnsville/Roseville BTs in scheduling and creating curriculum.- Meeting with clients during self-advocated or staff directed breaks, as well as supervising clients during scheduled snack/lunch breaks. - Checking clients in/out, searching clients for contraband, ordering/picking up lunches, and managing client taxis.- Monthly inventory and running a point-based reward store.- Managing the coverage sign-up emails and schedule.- Distributing client medications.

As a Youth Care Counselor, I worked alongside others to provide a safe and friendly living environment for at-risk teenagers. While away from home, or awaiting a new placement, we helped them to focus on self-reflection, growth, and personal accountability. We showed them the importance of routine and stability, self-care, and how to use their voice to advocate for their ideal future. Duties included:- Contributing to resident’s daily logs, conducting intakes of new residents, maintaining progress reports and stabilization plans.- Communicating with Parents, CPS workers, POs, Mental health workers, and schools.- Planning and transporting residents to and from evening activities. On occasion transporting to and from school. - Preparing and serving meals as well as assigning clean up duties.- Conducting bed checks and distributing medications.

At Valley of Peace, my role was to create a safe space where children, youth, and their families, could openly ask questions about the Christian faith. Duties included:- Planning/selecting curriculum for both Sunday School and Youth groups, as well as assisting with Confirmation.- Planning activities, mission trips, and service projects as well as fundraising for events.- Networking with other congregations and their leaders. - Encouraging parents and members of the congregation to be involved.- Managing an annual budget.- Attending weekly staff meetings.

Assist the Children's Ministry Director in planning and executing faith-based summer camps for children in Preschool - 6th grade. This would include training and delegating tasks to youth and adult volunteers, adapting themed curriculum to communicate our believes and values, and also work to maintain a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for children and youth to come as they are and to be themselves.
