My role is to assist the project superintendent with the coordination of contractors and supervision of crafts within a work area.

I assisted in quality control by conducting walks, generating reports in Plan Grid, and tracking deficiencies until completion. Maintained digital and hardcopy drawings, submittals, and RFIs which provided current information for entire project. Participated in weekly RFI/Submittal review meetings, OAC walks, and field observation walks with Owner/Architect/Engineer group.

I was responsible for helping with the day to day activities as we were completing The Atlantis Apartments in Denver, Colorado. The team that I was working under placed me in charge of the Punch list. With a project of this size and caliber, the punch list was very long and exhaustive. I coordinated with the owner’s representatives, the owner, the architect as well as engineers to find deficiencies that needed to be addressed before the deadline and the turnover of the building. This work involved me communicating with multiple companies and their associated representatives (foreman, journeymen, project managers, etc.). Other parts of my day I assisted the assistant superintendent with the layout of landscaping, especially concrete. This aspect of my internship showed me about tolerances, coordinating with the city for permits/closures, and inspections. I would shadow the inspectors of various trades, taking notes, and asking questions when appropriate. Having a good working relationship with the inspectors proves to be beneficial, especially when closeout requires final signatures and the Fire Department to sign off on the certificate of occupancy. I sat in and assisted with the weekly Owners, Architect, Contractor meetings, taking notes, and answering questions when they arose regarding punch list or anything else that was in my area of responsibility. I created and processed Request for Information (RFI’s), Change Orders, as well as the Punch List all in Procore. Daily jobs also required me to keep up with the general cleanliness of the job site which included operating a skid steer with a street sweep attachment. I received training and licensing for the skid steer, snorkel, scissor lift, and forklift. This allowed me to assist in material receiving and placing throughout the job site.
