About Nate M.

I switched my skill set from problem solving roles in the commodity trading, energy, rail, shipping sectors to climate change mitigation innovation, after being inspired by my first exposure to a module on the GAIA hypothesis at university in 2006.I head business development for ASCON Group’s global Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) nature based, technological carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and engineered greenhouse gas removal (GGR) methodologies. On the nature based, afforestation, biogas digesters, blue carbon (mangrove/seagrass/seaweed), carbon farming, rangeland restoration and reforestation globally are my focus areas. ASCON is a first mover for technology CDRs with ongoing steel fabrication/assembly/testing/certification of the novel, breakthrough TRL 9 ASCON Limestone Carbonation Carbon Capture And Carbon Cured Cement Storage™ (ALCCCACCCS™) carbon capture retrofits, permanent carbon dioxide (CO2) storage of the resultant Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) a carbon cured cement feedstock in the built environment and enhanced weathering (EW) sectors. I also do stakeholder engagement for the ASCON VAMCO™ Metal Oxide Chemical Looping Methane Capture at TRL 7 and Calcium Looping Carbon Capture Technologies at TRL 6 with a demonstration plant. To be commissioned Q4 2027, currently evolving from pre-feasibility to feasibility, I have been system integrator for the ASCON Scotland Carbon, Methane Capture Hub & Centre of Excellence which is an industrial cluster supported by satellite clusters/sites in Scotland hosting the:(i) In-house steel fabrication/assembly/testing/certification of the TRL 9 ASCON Limestone Carbonation Carbon Capture And Carbon Cured Cement Storage™ (ALCCCACCCS™) technology retrofits (ii) Centre of Excellence for Research Development & Demonstration for Direct Air Capture for black carbon (PM 2.5), carbon dioxide, fluorocarbons, fluorines, methane, fugitive hydrogen emissions & naturally occurring white hydrogen(iii) Utilisation of sustainable biomass that is imported, local low value forestry and/or sawmill residues, summer season fire mitigation harvested brush & kindling for:a. Modular Biomass Thermal Power Generation b. Polygeneration Biochar Bioenergy with Carbon Capture & Storage (BBECCS) technology for biochar production, with 50% of biochar gasified to ammonia, methanol & sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) pathways c. Wood Pellets Production
