Career and Technical Education has always been a big part of my life and continues to be my passion. It started in fifth grade, when a student teacher came in that specialized in technology education. He delivered lessons on force, motion, and fluid power and I was hooked. From that point on I took every CTE course that was offered from middle to high school and eventually participated in the school-to-work program my senior year. For a kid that had a variety of after school and summer jobs I really didn't know what I wanted to do after high school. My school-to-work experience and my high school counselor gave me great direction and lead me to a perfect post-secondary match. My mission as President, is to create experiences for students that lead them to make informed decisions about their future. It is not enough to talk about and test for interest and aptitude, students must have relevant and coordinated experiences that help them choose the best path. All students are smart; we just need to help them discover “how” they are smart.
