I spent five rewarding years at the online discussion platform, growing annual revenue to $20M and selling the startup. Initially focused on Discovery, my role evolved to include Data Products, Analytics, and Operations, expanding to managing a ten-person Product and Engineering team.I obsess over measuring impact with the right metrics to pinpoint flaws, better define opportunities, and exceed objectives.

Over four years at Say Media / VideoEgg, I recruited, trained, and led a team of three analysts to deftly apply technology to accelerate the productivity and success of 100 media experts. We managed all media planning in concert with global sales and operations teams, quickly building the business to $100M in annual revenue.As part of the Product Development team, I negotiated data partnerships and built Say’s audience targeting, brand safety protection, performance analysis, and optimization capabilities. Translating complex requirements for engineers drastically cut our time-to-market, helping us capture business opportunities by delivering simple, powerful solutions faster.Using the strengths of Hadoop and Django, we created an all-new media planning platform that connected inventory management with pricing for infinite combinations of content experiences and targeting, along with order processing and delivery. This empowered us to handle complex client requests with speed and accuracy, making once-impossible sales goals reachable.

I partnered with senior leaders in the commercial insurance affiliate, designing and building the company’s first data warehouse. Our initial goal was to analyze new underwriting and policy management activities as we made the transition to direct sales. I created a new product prioritizing workers’ compensation insurance claims based on risk of unexpected losses.

I negotiated and implemented service agreements with parent companies AMD and Fujitsu. I prepared the company for IPO in partnership with the legal team, investment bankers, and shareholders.

I resolved urgent business challenges as part of a rapid response unit, skillfully crossing boundaries of trading, finance, operations and technology teams. I designed and developed an in-house product to retrieve position data from multiple regions across the globe, empowering leaders to quickly assess risk, seamlessly connecting the familiar Excel UI to real-time measures of price and risk.

I consistently delivered more than expected – leading to trust, strong relationships and more than $3M in new billings with top clients such as State Farm Insurance and American Airlines.

I picked up diagnostic skills that continue to pinpoint problems today and first became familiar with software development in a quickly changing environment and an engineer-centric culture. I later realized Wolfram was my first “startup.”
