In my role as Senior Manager - Technical Accounting, I serve as a trusted business advisor to Operational Accounting, Business Unit Finance, and Leadership. My team provides oversight and consultation on complex accounting topics and transactions, which requires an acute comprehension of US GAAP and strong capability to apply GAAP concepts to broader business issues. Key emphasis areas include application of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606), lease transactions (ASC 842), mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity, treasury initiatives, and application of newly-issued accounting standard updates.

In my role as Assurance Manager, I oversee teams ranging from 4 to 10 people for each of my five audit clients and am responsible for ensuring my teams produce a high-quality audit service within the agreed upon timeline with the client. I am responsible for developing our audit plans and ensuring that my junior team members execute the audit according to those plans. This requires strong resource management skills, as I need to ensure the right people are assigned to work on the right projects at the right times. I also am responsible for working through and reviewing advanced technical topics, including goodwill impairment, business combinations, divestitures, restructuring, debt modifications, and standard implementations, as well as information systems updates (namely accounting and ERP system conversions). I am responsible for reviewing my client's quarterly and annual reports to ensure compliance with the applicable reporting framework (e.g. US GAAP or IFRS).My clients are primarily in the manufacturing industry, in both the consumer products and industrial spaces. Outside of my core responsibilities as Assurance Manager, I am also a member of our firm's recruiting team for recruitment of Assurance interns and new hires, and a member of our EY Faculty Network, where I teach audit classes to interns and staff.

As an Assurance Senior, I am primarily responsible for developing the audit plan with audit executives and partners on my audit clients and executing that audit plan. As lead senior on each of my audit engagements, I manage between 3-8 individuals on each of my teams and also manage upward executive involvement. I am responsible for coaching junior staff members through completion of audit procedures and performing detailed review of all audit areas. I am chiefly responsible for being the main point person for the financial reporting groups of each of my audit clients and also serve as coordinator with international EY teams across the globe. In my role as senior, I have been exposed to the application of complex accounting guidance, including business combinations, goodwill, and divestitures. I work on both publicly traded and private clients, and therefore have developed proficient skills in SEC reporting, PCAOB requirements, and US GAAP. As our firm continues to focus on digital transformation, I have been at the forefront of implementing data analytics in our audit workplans to perform a more effective and efficient audit for my clients.

As an Assurance Staff, the primary duties of my role include performing testing procedures over the internal control environment and financial statements of firm clients. I serve primarily clients in the manufacturing industry, but have also worked on audits of employee benefit plans and retail clients.
