As Product Manager for Content Protection at Verizon Media. I was responsible for producing the requirements and roadmap for our Multi-DRM and Rights Management product. This involved modeling the business idea, producing the pricing strategy, determining the right roadmap for the content protection features needed by our customers. I have successfully navigated and managed the go to market and commercialization efforts required at Verizon for releasing this product including training sales, support, solutions engineers and customers on a highly technical subject. I was also responsible for the partnership with our 3rd party player vendor THEOplayer.

Developing highly distributed OTT video streaming platform used by the biggest names in the broadcast world. In 2016, I worked on a team that delivered a greatly enhanced Live Events 2.0 platform and dashboard that enabled the successful delivery of 45k+ live events in 2017 to millions of concurrent viewers. My main role in the project was ensuring the generation of dynamic playback manifests for each viewer. I also worked on billing and analytics for the project quickly coming up to speed on the systems that not many understood. More recently, I have been working on enabling our platform to support DASH manifests for VOD, Live Linear Channels, and Live Events and providing DRM for these as well. This has given me exposure to FairPlay, PlayReady, and Widevine. These features should be critical for keeping our products on top in the market.

When Pfizer acquired Hospira, the TheraDoc business unit was sold to Premier.I volunteered to assume the role of program manager for a service pack that I was heavily involved with developing. As a program manager I played pivotal role in introducing Agile methodologies to the entire development organization. I successfully managed the delivery of a program from concept to launch following Agile principles. This involved managing the schedules, budgets, and communicating program status to executive leadership. In the medical software space quality processes and documentation are critical and I was responsible for making sure the program team produced all of the appropriate quality documentation at the right time.

In my main role as a senior web developer I performed detailed analysis of complex reporting requirements driven by CDC. I came up to speed quickly on TheraDoc's homegrown application framework and delivered quality code in a timely manner.I have also been on an advanced architecture team tasked with determining the future of our platform. The project allowed us to look into many technologies such as Java Spring including dependency injection and aspect oriented development for security and logging. We looked at Maven & Gradle utilizing a Nexus server for managing dependencies. On the front end we looked into Angular, ExtJS, Dojo, and jQuery UI for a JavaScript framework. For rules engines we looked into Drools and OpenRules. We created our unit tests with JUnit and Mockito. Caching was handled with EHCache. We used ORMs like Hibernate and MyBatis and NoSQL technologies such as Cassandra and MongoDB.

I have done freelance ColdFusion development starting in 2006 primarily for the same client, WCCI (www.wcci.biz). They are an AMC (Appraisal Management Company) based in Seattle who maintains a network of appraisers nationwide. Initially I was contacted to make some minor updates to their site as they were unhappy with the work their previous developer had done. Seven years later, they still come back to me as their most reliable developer.I have done many projects critical to their business including transitioning them from the world of fax and email to now storing all of their documents on Amazon's S3 cloud. They have a CF backend with ExtJS driving most of their front end site. I also integrated WordPress as their CMS to allow them more control over marketing content and style. I have managed other developers in creating 3rd party web service integrations utilizing the MISMO document standard.I highly value my freelance experience because it allows me to be assume many roles from being a business analyst gathering requirements to being a project manager keeping projects healthy to being an architect determining the future of their site.Before 2006, I had done freelance web and flash work here and there.

I was on the internal tools team at MedAssets responsible for maintaining CF and .Net applications critical to the success of our business unit. We utilized an internal CF application framework that was integrated with Fusebox. We transitioned all tools to have and entire front end utilizing ExtJS. When our company was purchased by MedAssets we were given a large project to merge the two administration systems so clients could be managed from one location and have a single sign on solution. We maintained a large cluster of web servers and had implemented a SQL Server Service Broker solution for keeping two disparate systems in-sync. We were given several .Net applications to maintain and just before I left we were officially trained on .Net. My last two weeks were spent training the offshore developers on our existing applications. The consulting company was so impressed with my work they offered me a significant increase to join their company and help with the transition. While flattered with their offer, we had already committed to moving to Utah. We used Agile Scrum methodologies the entire time I was at MedAssets which was very successful.

I was the sole web developer at McCauley responsible for maintaining their website created in ColdFusion. McCauley is a premier loudspeaker manufacturer based in Washington state. McCauley's company functions were largely based on their website for order placement and fulfillment, tracking in manufacturing, and marketing to sales commissions, etc. I stepped up to any task that the owner Tom asked for. I was fascinated with their industry and extremely grateful for the brief exposure a small manufacturing company and the unique opportunities it provided me.

My first years at Lockheed were in Littleton, CO where I worked on a classified program. After receiving my TS/SCI clearance I worked on software build team. We managed multiple software baselines using CM/Change Synergy (~2 Million lines of code). I developed complex perl and csh scripts to automate CM processes. We worked entirely on Sun workstations and I enjoyed working in a collaborative team environment very much.In 2005, I moved with Lockheed to Seattle, where both my wife and I had grown up. There I developed web-based applications in ColdFusion utilizing CSS, JavaScript and SQL Server. I was responsible for rapidly analyzing requirements and created applications in Access, Excel, & VB on a consulting basis for Boeing project managers. I worked for Lockheed but our contract was with Boeing on a classified program in Seal Beach, CA. Our team also maintained a C# desktop application that scanned documents for classified words. I enjoyed working as a consultant and traveling however we were having our second child and that travel became too much of a burden.

This company was owned by my good friend Greg Hart who later went to work for Dreamworks. While there I lead a group of artists and animators in creating a unique web-based application for helping college chemistry students visualize reactions in interactive 3D. I developed a modular application utilizing Java, JavaScript, Actionscript, Maya’s mel scripting. We produced a CD-ROM for distribution in textbooks published by W. W. Norton & Company.

I was originally hired on while I was still attending college to develop flash based tutorials for stock screening windows application. This application was called the Big Easy Investor and was a small software company that was quickly acquired by Ameritrade. After the acquisition, I was responsible for designing and maintaining their website. I also attended financial trade shows and presented the product to large groups of customers.
