Rock Paper Frigate is an experimental iOS game that uses decentralized computing resources to process the results of “fleet battles” between two players. Players challenge each other, choose terms, arrange their fleet, and watch their ships battle.The game’s API, storage, and campaign is built on AWS, but player vs player battles are calculated via Golem, a network of decentralized computing power that utilizes ERC-20 crypto tokens called GLM for payments.Using decentralized computing reduced computing costs for asynchronous tasks and added redundancy.Learn more about the game at: rockpaperfrigate.com

Co-founded, designed, and developed Custom Cut Studio, an online platform built for hobbyists and small business owners who create custom products using laser cutters, CNC machines, and similar tools.Users create an account and upload product templates which can be edited by their clients to add custom text via the platform’s online template editor. Client edited templates can then be exported by users into “cut ready” files that reduce the work required to provide custom engraved products.Custom Cut Studio is built from the ground up to be fast, simple, and intuitive use. The React-based web portal is responsive and minimal, the online SVG template editor is mobile friendly, subscriptions are handled via Stripe, and the platform utilizes event based data pipelines and on-demand cloud resources to balance ETL processing times and computing costs.Check it out at:https://customcut.studio

Led the technical design and development of a multi-channel (Facebook Messenger, Twitter, and SMS) bot platform deployed to AWS and used to create interactive chat bots on popular brands’ social media accounts such as Pepsi, Budweiser, Bose, Skittles, Absolute Vodka, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Kevita, and Snickers. Led the product design and development of platform features that took advantage of recent advances in NLP (natural language processing) and AI (artificial intelligence). This included building models that helped our system understand user intent during a conversation, and reduced user drop off early in conversations.Led the product design and development of a multi-channel notification system which sent relevant notifications to users based on platform analytics, which improved engagement and significantly increased the number of users completing previously started actions.Worked on a product team to conceptualize new features for the platform and determine product direction. Led platform scaling efforts which successfully handled bursts of 20,000 messages a second during Super Bowl ads that linked to social media accounts on the platform.Inventor on multiple US patents related to using chat bots for digital promotions.

Continued to lead iOS projects as well as responsive web applications supporting Gratafy's on-site product sampling platform. Redesigned, rebuilt, and maintained Gratafy's customer facing iOS app. The app allowed customers to buy gift cards and individual menu items (for example, a martini or appetizer) at hundreds of restaurants and bars across the US and redeem them at the venue via a code shown in the app.Some notable app features included: - Geofences for reminding users when they were near a venue they had a redeemable item at.- Facebook and contacts integration for sending menu items as gifts to friends.- Map integration for locating and choosing nearby venues.

Moved out of research and into product development as a iOS Developer and Interaction Designer within the Commercial Aviation Services division at Boeing. Designed user interfaces and flows that would be intuitive to specific types users such as airline mechanics.Designed and developed prototype mobile applications for airline professionals.
