About Nate S. Osikowicz

I am motivated to create engineering systems that take inspiration from the natural world. This has led me to study shape-morphing space structures in my role as a NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Fellow. My research combines experimental design and probability theory to investigate multibody systems in a computationally efficient manner.I am an active contributor to the robotics community, and in my spare time, I work as a research project mentor to guide high school students through original research projects. My favorite way to engage with engineering is through hands-on projects, and I can usually be found tinkering with actuators and sensors to make my ideas come to life.When I was in high school, I built an arch bridge from a box of spaghetti noodles that held over 80 pounds. Ever since then, I’ve been motivated to design mass-optimal structures that can be efficiently packaged in a launch vehicle and sent into space.
