I graduated Magna Cum Lauda from Northeastern's Three Seas Master's of Marine Biology program. The program occurred in Boston, Hawaii, and Friday Harbor. I wrote research proposals in each environment and took graduate-level marine biology coursework. I’ve developed the skillset to: use academic literature to analyze a marine conservation issue professionally, communicate its importance to a funding agency (through a grant or NSF GRFP), and design and conduct a scientific study in a variety of marine ecosystems, use software (Excel, Powerpoint, Google’s collaborative equivalents, FinalCut Pro, RStudio, and GIS) to present my study, and create accessible communications about any research and outreach efforts to either the public, resource managers, policymakers, or other stakeholders. I completed the interdisciplinary major of Environmental Studies at UC Santa Cruz. However, I progressed significantly through courses in Computer Science, all the way up to the completion of the 101 courses: Intro to Algorithms and Abstract Datatypes to understand how to build databases in Java, C, and Python. I wish to transfer my knowledge about databases into the creation of a global bycatch database for observer programs on commercial fishing vessels. I am a huge people-person with experience in multiple marine conservation projects. My interest in the ocean began with shark conservation but has developed into a passion for all areas of marine conservation. There is nothing more personally and professionally satisfying than using my SCUBA diving certifications to protect the ocean. Whether it's surveying, cleaning or spreading awareness of environmental concerns, I do my best to help advance strides in marine conservation in any way I can. When I'm not studying, I am usually with my Pomeranian/Terrier mix Batman, who loves to be outside even more than I do. He loves joining me while I pursue other interests like cooking, making music, or traveling whenever I can.I love meeting new people and hearing about cool traveling experiences, so please feel free to say hello and share a story or adventure with me. I'm sure I'll have one to match for an interesting conversation.Recruiting Specialties:SCUBA diving: AAUS Scientific Diving (2021), PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (2020), Coral Reef Research Diver (2016), PADI Divemaster (2017), Multiple specialty certifications (AWARE Shark Conservation Diver, Fish ID, Underwater Naturalist, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver)Computer Science: Java, C, Python3.7 GPA at UC Santa Cruz3.8 GPA at Northeastern
