I have been in a technical leadership role off and on for the past 20 years and I have found that I get a lot of satisfaction in developing both engineering and maintenance groups into high functioning, collaborative, and dedicated teams that support continuous improvement and unlock hidden or untapped capacity and potential. Nothing brings about improvement more efficiently than tapping into employees creative juices, giving them the authority and resources to affect change, and helping them to explore options and alternatives by playing devil's advocate. I've been blesses to lead several teams of outstanding individuals that have always risen to the occasion.I started my career at National Starch and Chemical fresh out of Purdue. This was a great company with a very versatile and affective engineering team that hammered home the importance of work flow, collaboration, and personal responsibility. NSC gave me the opportunity to work in and/or execute Capital Projects across North America (Indy, North Kansas City, Island Falls, Maine, New Jersey, Collingwood Ontario, and Guadalajara Mexico) and overseas in England, Germany and Thailand. I left NSC to pursue a leadership role in a smaller company where I could put my Maintenance and Engineering Management background to work and where I felt I would be better able to impact a larger part of the organization and business and grow outside the maintenance and engineering focus.
