I participated in three workshops in Mexico, Guatemala and Ecuador, particularly in the component of identifying appropriate policies and instruments to promote regulatory, legislative and institutional changes aimed at promoting ESTs in the NIS. I participated in the targeting, validation and dissemination phases of the study. The specific objectives that the experts had to accomplish are the following:To share ideas among the participating sectors (NIS government, climate change government, private sector and academic sector), on the institutional arrangements and governance mechanisms of the NIS, the current conditions of incentives and resources that the systems offer for the promotion, development, innovation and integration of RETs.- Identify the contributions that NIS can make to accelerate the introduction of ESTs and the fulfillment of the Nationally Determined Contributions assumed by the countries of the region.- To present concrete examples of NIS policies that are contributing to the transfer and adoption of ESTs.- To provide ideas on the optimal functioning of the NIS.
