Currently I am Assistant Professor of Political Science at Worcester State University. Previously, I was Lecturer of American Politics at Merrimack College and Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at Wheaton College (MA). I teach classes on American politics, political institutions, racial politics, political communication, and American Political Development. My research explores the presidency and racial and ethnic politics through an analysis of rhetoric. My dissertation analyzes presidential rhetoric from 1964 to 2004 to show how Republican presidents established a framework for presidential speech about race by using ethnic language to justify subtly coded racial appeals and sidestep issues of racial inequality. I have presented this work at several conferences including the American Political Science Association Annual Meeting in September 2013, the Southern Political Science Association Annual Meeting in January 2013, and the Midwestern Political Science Association Annual Meeting in March of 2012. My first article asks why presidents stopped talking about racial inequality in education. It is forthcoming in New Political Science. I taught classes at Lehman College and Eugene Lang on a wide range of topics including American international relations, racial and ethnic politics, political theory, and American political thought.
