Maintaining the teams capacity plans and budgets, allocating resources and work packages across projects to ensure delivery schedules are maintained, ensuring design specifications are met, acceptance criteria achieved and data quality of operational systems is at the highest level. I also have ultimate responsibility for operational test management, managing defects from identification through to resolution, risk management including clinical risk management and reporting on assurance outcomes to business leads and senior stakeholders. Alongside my day to day role, I career manage and mentor six staff to help them progress and develop their professional and personal skills to prepare them and help direct advancement in their chosen career path. This involves interpreting System Requirements, Dataset specifications and design models to formulate robust test strategies, create dataset Assurance Plans and then translate them into comprehensive testing scripts. Managing a team of test analysts to ensure accurate creation of test databases and test data following dataset specifications and test scripts for use during User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Part of the assurance process involves writing complex queries on the test database to replicate the web Portal processing in order to baseline expected outputs to be used when analysing actual data extracts from the Open Exeter System. During live testing I have to manage the defect management process using the Jira system and effectively negotiate with our system suppliers in order to schedule bug fixes or essential change requests.In order to formulate the team strategy and work plans I liaise with colleagues both internally and externally including Project Managers and developers at HSCIC in Exeter. I also communicate externally with Hospital Provider Trusts and NHS Commissioners appealing to their good nature to persuade them to assist with Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) the final stage of our assurance testing in the Live system.I also play a part in the strategy and decision making of the wider team as a subject matter expert along with the other section heads both internal and external to the department.
