I was a postdoc on the AHRC-funded project, 'The future prospects of urban parks: the life, times and social order of Victorian public parks as places of social mixing'. My duties included archival and digital collections research, sociological methods of data collection and analysis (including interviews and focus groups), public engagement, authoring policy reports, grant writing and conference planning.

In my four years as a GTA, I taught on several undergraduate courses, specialising in industrial and post-industrial social, cultural and economic history, as well as European political history. I received outstanding feedback from my students; in particular, they noted my ability to convey complex ideas in an accessible and engaging manner, as well as my commitment to helping them develop their analytical and writing skills in classes and one-to-one sessions. I also ran a number of taster classes for sixth form students, aimed at encouraging more state-school students to consider higher education, as part of the 'Discover History' initiative.
