Started J Wood Flooring and Installation from scratch and built it into one of the premier remodeling and design companies in the Charlotte area. Initially it was based primarily on flooring but eventually we were doing full remodels on entire homes, specializing in kitchens, baths, and the aesthetic connection of materials to flow through the home. Developed sales from $0-$1.25 million per year. Company became profitable after 18 months and remained in the black during my entire tenure.

Oversaw all activities and operations of the Charlotte, NC retail location as well as helped develop the national sales strategy of the additional 64 retail locations nationwide. Developed the Charlotte location from a $30k/month sales trend to over $150k/month in less than 90 days. Was asked to speak at the national meeting in Las Vegas at SURFACES to convey how we were able to increase our sales 5 fold while still maintaining the highest profit margin, lowest overhead, and best customer service ratings and repeat business in the company. Was being groomed for a Regional Manager position (until the market crash of 2008 happened).

Managed all actions of 11 retail and installation locations over a 3 state territory. Maintained and developed a management and sales team of approximately 110 employees. Reported to a National Manager as well as directly to the Owners/Board of Directors. Developed store locations in Wilmington, Raleigh, Greensboro/Triad, Charlotte, and Atlanta. In 1st year we were able to reach and exceed profit target and took over 25% of the market share in our category. Developed trade show displays and presentations and toured as a Sales and Installation Trainer.

Oversaw all departments aside from clothing, bedding, and automotive and set multiple top sales achievements in appliances, lawn care, tools, and electronics. Was recognized for my ability to read customer trends and repeatedly brought in stock to support such trends to meet and exceed desired sales targets. Trained in all hardlines divisions and was sent to several hands-on conventions and trade expos. Communicated with corporate offices at Hoffman Estates in Chicago to develop programs to create greater customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. Was promoted 3 times in 1 year to cover larger stores and staffs.
