Growing up, I would often dismantle toys in an attempt to discover how and why they worked, then attempt to reassemble them back into full functionality (this wasn’t always the case). While I wasn’t always successful, this set me on the path to not only understanding how things worked but, when they broke I could also fix them.After completing high school, I undertook an apprenticeship in automotive electrical technology where I was fortunate enough to learn a broad range of diverse skills on multiple times of equipment from cars, trucks, boats and even race cars. This was also where I began to gather my skills in business.Upon completing my apprenticeship, I craved more knowledge and experience, moving into mining, construction and finally public transport. All industries in which I was able to gain valuable behaviors, skills and knowledge towards my career.Since being in the public transport industry I have transitioned to my current role of Facilities manager, where I maintain the facilities for several bus depots in the Perth metro area. I have been able to both apply and develop my skills, behaviors and knowledge to create effective technical maintenance plans and execute multiple innovative initiatives. I have also been fortunate enough to become well versed in ISO55001.While I may no longer ‘be on the tools’ you will often find me still working on vehicles where I can, even as I grow and develop, plying my trade is still as enjoyable as the day I was 17. I have a passion for problem solving, working with key stakeholders, helping people and continuing to grow as a person.
