I worked as a mental health paralegal at Bison Solicitors for around six months. I was responsible for meeting with new clients and assessing if and how we could meet the client's needs. Once establishing if we could support the client, under the supervision of an experienced solicitor I would begin to develop a case for the client. I would prepare bundles for tribunal's, conduct legal research and engage with client's/witnesses to support our client's position. Within this role I developed a significant understanding of the day to day running's of a mental health law firm and the importance of the Mental Health Act.

I worked under a family law solicitor in a small team of four, preparing bundles for court, recording meetings and court hearings. Whilst working here I gained a clear understanding of the inner workings of a family law legal practice. I was also responsible for creating new files of new clients and legal research of individual client's cases, under the supervision of the solicitor I worked under.
