If there is a problem, I want to fix it. If there is a puzzle, I want to solve it. In welding engineering there is always a problem to solve, or an objective to complete. Through my education at Pennsylvania College of Technology and Washtenaw Community College I have received many of these problems where it is required of me to solve them using real world methods and techniques. It has been required of me to be able to perform skills such as data collection, destructive and non-destructive testing, blueprint design, weld optimization. Many of these tasks, such as designing a part with CAD or programing a robot, required critical thinking and careful planning in order to complete the required objective. But my education has also pushed to improve my physical skill set as well. I am proficient at GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, and FCAW, having spent many hours on each process, on many materials, and in all positions. I can also operate SAW machines and I have spent hours oxy and plasma cutting. Thanks to the recourses of schools that I have attended, I have been given the opportunity to work with the latest machines and have been taught by great professors who have several years of experience in industry. Working in retail throughout my education has also added to my skillset. It has taught me how to work with other employees and customers, work ethic, and time management. I have helped thousands of customers, solving their problems from painting to plumbing and even several with welding. This all improved my critical thinking, and pushed me to be able to come up with solutions to problems on the spot. I am exited and motivated to get out into the workforce and peruse my career as a welding engineer and continuing to expand my knowledge in this field to solve its problems.
