Responsible for planning, directing and coordination of the manufacturing process including required tooling and staffing needed for efficient and cost effective production. Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, parts, and processing. Attention to production capabilities and assembly while maintaining strict adherence to quality control standards. Confer with administration, planning & design staff and vendors regarding product design specifications, quality standards and production methods. Application of statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential. Use Solidworks and Mastercam for 3d design and NC programming.

Quote new product and specify materials, processes, finishes. Assist product engineers with design to ensure manufacturing processes are capable. Write weld and finishing specifications for carbon, aluminum, and stainless steels. Write quality specifications for in process and finished product. Use Solidworks and AutoCAD to create detailed shop drawings. Track all job costs including labor, raw material, outsourcing and report to group monthly with individual job profitability. Quote and procure all raw materials, outsourcing, and shop supplies. Project manage all fabrication activities. Train employees on CNC machining, CNC plasma cutting, press brake and all manual shop equipment and operate as needed. Meet bi-weekly with fabricators and set job priority schedule. Program Fadal VMC using Mastercam X4. Design and build fixtures for welding, machining and assembly.

Program and operate Sheffield RS-150 CMM using PC-DMIS. Measurement of automotive interior components, molds, and gage certifications. Use Calipers, micrometers, gage pins, and height gage for hand measurements. Operate Mititoyo optical comparator. Read and interpret prints for measurement; thorough understanding of GD&T needed. Import data into PPaP reports including full dimensional layouts, capability studies, and DOE studies. Use modular Rayco fixtures to set up parts, and run Gage R&R repeatability qualifications. Meet all QS 9000 standards for our department.

Setup and operate CNC machining centers. Setup and operate wire EDM. Program CNC's and wire EDM using Hypermill and Mastercam. Design, model, and detail dies, fixtures, and components in 2d and 3d. General machining of details using drill press, Bridgeport, lathe, and surface grinder. Inspect and reverse engineer components on CMM. Build, tryout and repair stamping dies.
