Driven to ensure that technology bolsters democratic dialogue and civic trust, Nathan's interests lie at the intersection of constitutional law and digital tech. To this end, he is simultaneously earning two degrees from Columbia and Sciences Po Paris, while acting as the Special Assistant to the Executive Director of the Center for Humane Technology. There he works on identifying promising legal and policy interventions to realign AI incentives, and is helping to co-write a book on the topic.Nathan has also conducted research with the NYT bestselling moral psychologist, Dr. Jonathan Haidt for the publication of The Anxious Generation, and is a member of the Board of Directors for All Tech Is Human's university network.He is proud to have worked on many of these issues with organizations across the entire ideological spectrum, including the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P), the New Civil Liberties Alliance, the American Bar Association, and most recently at the Institute for Justice as the Arthur D. Hellman Fellow in Public Interest Litigation. To help rebuild constructive discourse outside the digital ecosphere, he is the founder of the Civic Dialogue Fellowship, a 2023 FIRE Campus Scholar and co-chairs Columbia's Heterodox community. For these efforts, Nathan has won the $10,000 national Roger Pilon Award in Constitutional Law, the Andrew D. Barth Presidential Fellowship, and was nominated to the university-wide Committee on the Core Curriculum. He is currently writing a thesis applying Madisonian political thought to the governance of modern tech platforms, and was the 2023 National Champion of the Philip C.
