Responsible for direct outreach, assessment and case management for justice involved Veterans in local courts and jails. The responsibilities for the position are conducted in correctional facilities, including county jails, work release centers and local criminal justice courts on an outreach basis. A secondary portion of this position is to provide ongoing or as needed training to law enforcement personnel regarding Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other mental health related issues.

SOCIAL WORKER INTAKE COORDINATOR: The Social Worker Intake Coordinator functions under the Behavioral Health Care Line. The incumbent functions as a clinical lead of the Screening Team for Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (SARRTP) and has significant responsibility for coordinating the referrals to SARRTP. The incumbent has the primary responsibility to coordinate the screening of veterans referred for admission to the program. The Intake Coordinator works closely with all referral sources such as the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, Providers of Detoxification Services, Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV), the Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic, GEC, Care Coordination Team, other VA facilities and, community agencies. The Coordinator arranges referral or services on behalf of the veteran to assure that necessary and appropriate clinical services are received. The Intake Coordinator coordinates day-to-day functions of the admissions program that treats a variety of clinically challenging patients requiring residential placement into programming that provides support and services for homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, vocational, and related psychiatric and medical conditions. The SARRTP Admissions Coordinator may also assist SARRTP staff with discharge planning for those veterans no longer needing residential support as they return to independent functioning in the community, or to a higher level of residential support as warranted by the individual recovery plan. The SARRTP Admissions Coordinator supports Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program outpatient intake evaluation.

MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST: Veterans First Jail Diversion Program / Veterans and Family Support Services Program- Provide outreach for readjustment counseling to all Veterans and their family members in the Veteran & Family Support Services Program.- Provide individual and group counseling to Veterans and their family members over issues of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, marital and family issues, substance abuse, employment, military sexual trauma, homelessness, and legal issues.- Provide Evidence Based Practice using Seeking Safety, EMDR, Matrix, Motivational Interviewing, Prolonged Exposure, & Moral Reconation Therapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Substance Use disorders.- Provide readjustment counseling for Veterans transitioning into civilian life.- Utilize an electronic medical record system for management of Comprehensive Service Plans, Progress Notes, and Behavioral Health Assessments.- Coordination of non-institutional and institutional services including case management, medication management, psycho-social rehabilitation, and jail diversion team members.

Operation Specialists (OS) function as plotters, radio-telephone and Command and Control sound-powered telephone talkers and maintain Combat Information Center (CIC) displays of strategic and tactical information. They operate surveillance and altitude radars Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), and associated equipment. They also serve as Air Traffic Controllers for helicopters and fixed-wing supersonic jet aircraft.OS Sailors serve as watch supervisors and section leaders; interpret and evaluate presentations and tactical situations and make recommendations to supervisors during watch conditions. They apply a thorough knowledge of doctrine and procedures applicable to CIC operations contained in U. S. Navy Instructions and Allied or U.S. Navy Publications and procedures necessary for radar navigation contained in Naval Oceanographic Office publications. OSs provide to the command technical information and assistance related to Anti-Surface Warfare, Anti-Air Warfare, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Amphibious Warfare, Mine Warfare, Naval Gunfire Support, and search and rescue operations, and other matters pertaining to the Operations Specialist's area.
