Processed and analyzed complex astronomical data using python. Drove research, taught as a teaching assistant (TA), organized and performed community outreach, and took classes. See github for work done and results from this role: https://neggen.github.ioAchievements:• Salvaged bad data by finding a new avenue of research with it, which resulted in a full academic paper: doi.org/10.3847/1538-4357/abe85d. Used Markov chain Monte Carlo to explore high dimensional parameter spaces.• Leveraged the results of the aforementioned research to write a successful proposal to use the Hubble Space Telescope. Only 17.8% of proposals to Hubble that cycle were accepted, with successful graduate student proposals likely being an order of magnitude rarer. • Chosen to be the Head TA for the Introductory Astronomy course in first year of teaching. Duties included leading weekly meetings with the TAs, troubleshooting labs, interfacing between lecturers and TAs, designing the syllabus, and organizing weekly public stargazing events.• Presented novel research at the annual American Astronomical Society meeting in January 2020.• Served as the graduate student representative to the faculty.

Projects: • Assisted the making and filling of the direct dark matter experiment, MiniCLEAN, in an internship at SNOLAB. Ran neutron calibration simulations using Root and C++, and became a certified Canadian miner. Results were presented at UW Madison’s Undergraduate Research Symposium in 2017.• Characterized the persistence of the near-infrared detector soon to be on the South African Large Telescope using python. Results are published at http://dx.doi.org/10.1117/12.2233227• Analyzed images of a binary star system. Used a Fourier analysis to find periodic variability, and finally modeled the variability with an eclipsing binary modeling code to show the presence of star-spots. This work resulted in an honors senior thesis.

Performed gradations, atterberg tests, moisture content of clays, sands, soils, and aggregates, stress tests on concrete and asphalt tests. Used linear regression with Excel to fit a variety of models to resistivity tests based on published literature to find the model that best described the data.
