School Modernisation Project Officer

Current

The focus of the role is the project management and support of the Council’s School Modernisation programme. This agenda aims to ensure the right number of schools are in the right areas throughout the county by building new facilities, refurbishing existing premises and reorganising of the school estate.Responsibilities include developing organisation proposals, establishing feasible options, recommending efficient preferences, securing funding, delivery of statutory consultations, liaising with internal departments and external partners at all levels, monitoring and reporting progress and ensure compliance with funding criteria and council protocols.

May 2016 - Present

Policy And Performance Support Officer

Mold, Flintshire

The main focus of the role is to aid project evaluation and decision making through extensive research. I have produced reports for Chief Officers, contributing to the exploration of the Alternative Delivery Model programme that the Local Authority has a strong emphasis on.Each report, investigates a particular subject, often dealing with sensitive and confidential information, and requires accurate details whilst meeting specified deadlines. Evidence can be relayed formally or informally and where desired recommendations have been made. Another aspect of my duties is to support the Local Service Board (LSB), which comprises of Chief Executives and senior officers from various public services organisations and examines ways of working collaboratively across the region. As part of the support I coordinate meetings, disseminate information and ensure actions are followed up.As part of the transition from a LSB to a Public Services Board (PSB) I was part of the team that reviewed the Well-Being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 to ensure that all requirements were met. The new PSB requested a brand and online presence be developed in order to reflect the change, something that I have delivered following consultation with stakeholders and designers.I have also been involved with providing support for the new performance management system established by the Council in 2015. The system provides an online portal for personnel to update agreed information that can then form the basis of various reports. As support I liaise with users to ensure the information they input is accurate and help to troubleshoot any problems they may encounter. I have also been involved with coordinating and delivering training for the new system, both in group situations and on a 1-to-1 basis.Other tasks include regional LSB networking, developing Social Enterprise website content, giving support to the Medium Term Financial Strategy and attending various seminars.

Jul 2015 - May 2016

Project Officer

Dee Valley Trust Cic

Cefn Mawr, Wrexham

I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organisation. Reporting to the Board of Directors I provided accurate and relevant information necessary to ensure the business meets its objectives. In March 2014 I made a significant contribution to the rebranding of the organisation. New objectives were established along with a fresh outlook with a view to increasing exposure, particularly in the local area. This process led me to undertake training in website design that I utilised to produce the company’s first online presence.I have procured funding for various projects, including an after school club located in a highly deprived area. This initiative required supervision of personnel, looking after a set budget and child welfare. Part of my remit was to ensure the organisation’s finances are monitored, accurately recorded and accounted for. This includes dealing with all sales ledger, purchase ledger, Pay As You Earn and Value Added Tax requirements, along with running a fortnightly payroll system which provides information directly to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
