My current responsibilities at Morgan Corp include: creating/sending daily reports to our client (Oceana Gold), sending the daily production numbers to Morgan Executives, maintaining an equipment repair spreadsheet, and maintaining a mobilization log for said equipment. These tasks required me to focus on organizational skills, as well as analytical skills. One of the larger tasks assigned to me is to manage our applicant pool for the jobsite and to schedule/interview potential hirees. This has been a great way for me to develop my personal skills and to get a better reading on the types of workers companies are looking for. Through my experience with Morgan Corp, I have been able to utilize Mobile Field Manager (MFM) a software used for equipment reconciliations. I have also been able to utilize HCSS for keeping track of our Safety Meetings, Observations, Inspections, and JHAs and report the daily numbers to our Project Manager and Safety Superintendent. Out in the field I was assigned the task of inspecting fire extinguishers to make sure that their tags were stamped and that the pressure was correct.In the office at Duke Lazarra, my responsibilities entailed forming estimates from plans and utilizing Bluebeam software. I became familiar with the workings of the office, demonstrating hands-on experience with RFI’s, submittals, and file organization. While I was appointed to contact various vendors, I was able to use professional development and social skills to ensure that plans were communicated and followed-through upon via continuous correspondence. I was capable of flexibly transitioning between responsibilities depending on necessity or requirement, juggling various tasks at a time. For the success and professionality of the company, it was important that I maintained an informed and knowledgeable tone and status during any e-mail or telephone interactions. While in the field, my responsibilities ranged from assisting crews (rough grading, fine grading, and asphalt), providing safety education, transporting material between job sites, and accompanying superintendents. Working in the field allowed me to transition my knowledge from paper plans to physical work sites, executing and applying my learning within a real-life setting. Alongside crews, I improved my hands-on abilities with locating tie-ins for utility lines, directing cement trucks for concrete pours, drilling holes in curb inlets to install steps, marking trees for clearing/cutting, tamping asphalt to create a compact/smooth finish, and flagging to direct vehicular traffic.
