In the past two years at Neogen, I have developed a wide breadth of skills pertaining to DNA biochemistry. I have learned techniques required to extract, purify, and quantify DNA from tissue, hair etc. in my experience in the Extraction Lab. I have progressed to processing extracted DNA via various forms of PCR and fluorescence chemistry including Axiom Propel by Thermo and Infinium XT by Illumina. This experience was rounded off with a series of projects in which I was responsible for scoring SNP data, thus getting involved with every step of the process. I shared my experience by undergoing training certification and being one of few people who fulfill this duty in multiple different labs.I recently began stem cell research at CellGro Technologies. My focus is innovating 3D bio-printing techniques to achieve new ceilings of cell growth and media consumption efficiency. I am responsible for the planning and execution of multiple experiments weekly intended to validate pre-market products and designs.I am a non-traditional Chemical Engineering undergrad at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I have been afforded the rare opportunity to develop tangible skills relevant to my studies prior to finishing my degree. This insight has prescribed unique value to coursework and covered materials. My experience allows me to draw unique connections between classroom and industry as my coursework is often applied to my work the same day - including biochemistry, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and process control engineering.
