This 2-year program consists of 4 rotations to gain experience in different sectors of the Andritz organization.Andritz is a hydro power organization that creates custom turbine, generator, and systems solutions.Currently in my 1st rotation working as an Electrical Design Engineer. This rotation takes place at the Andritz office in Peterborough which specializes in hydroelectric generator design.Below are some of my tasks and responsibilities in this rotation:- Learned and became familiarized with Hydroelectric industry - Learned the various components and systems that are used in hydroelectric power dams and the design flow associated with each component - Assigned as Design Engineer (DE) to two projects - As DE, review and document contractual requirements and ensure the project is designed to meet them- As DE, coordinate information between the customer, other Andritz offices, and our local office engineering team- As DE, use in-house electromagnetic software to perform analysis and calculations of various design choices- As De, attend meetings with Project Manager, System Engineer, and the local engineering team to discuss progress, updates, and determine upcoming actions - As DE, review documents/drawings and issue them when approved to the customer or internal team- As DE, create and write documents as required by each specific contract - As DE, follow the engineering plan and communicate with the engineering team and designers to ensure we meet schedule and budget- Work on automating the transfer of information from the electromagnetic calculation software to downstream tools

Compiled and submitted research for the supervisor. Prepared powerpoints and documents of research findings. Held and participated in meetings to present research findings and to demonstrate grasp of fundamental concepts. Created MATLAB scripts to create meta-lens design layouts. Used ANSYS FDTD to analyze material properties for future designs. Trained in use of clean rooms and learnt nanofabrication techniques.

I worked as a construction worker on a renovation project. I worked with other contractors to renovate an old school into apartments. The job required detailed measurement and strong decision making to ensure proper fitment of each apartment unit. Moreover, it took lots of planning and precision to ensure walls were in the correct place and door frames had correct fitment etc.

Labor based job. The position required physical strength and durability. It also required adaptability for when machines on the line broke down. The job was very fast paced requiring strong work ethic to maintain pace. Strong communication and team skills to effectively run machines on the assembly line.

Leadership intensive role to manage the sailing school. It includes managing the other sailing instructors and scheduling races and lessons. Moreover, it requires critical thinking and adaptability for situations that may occur on the water while teaching lessons. Interpersonal skills are needed for public relations with students, parents, and adults that take lessons. Communication skills are needed to effectively teach lessons to students and to work with other instructors on the water. Most importantly, in emergencies I would need to use decision making skills to make a call of how to best deal with the situation.
