Electrical Design Engineer
CurrentPart of Andritz Young Graduate Program. This 2-year program consists of 4 rotations to gain experience in different sectors of the Andritz organization.Andritz is a hydro power organization that creates custom turbine, generator, and systems solutions.Currently in my 1st rotation working as an Electrical Design Engineer. This rotation takes place at the Andritz office in Peterborough which specializes in hydroelectric generator design.Below are some of my tasks and responsibilities in this rotation:- Learned and became familiarized with Hydroelectric industry - Learned the various components and systems that are used in hydroelectric power dams and the design flow associated with each component - Assigned as Design Engineer (DE) to two projects - As DE, review and document contractual requirements and ensure the project is designed to meet them- As DE, coordinate information between the customer, other Andritz offices, and our local office engineering team- As DE, use in-house electromagnetic software to perform analysis and calculations of various design choices- As De, attend meetings with Project Manager, System Engineer, and the local engineering team to discuss progress, updates, and determine upcoming actions - As DE, review documents/drawings and issue them when approved to the customer or internal team- As DE, create and write documents as required by each specific contract - As DE, follow the engineering plan and communicate with the engineering team and designers to ensure we meet schedule and budget- Work on automating the transfer of information from the electromagnetic calculation software to downstream tools
