Who am I and what drives me?My colleagues at work describe me as ‘a hard working, result oriented colleague with a critical attitude to his work’. Others value me for my structured approach and pro-active problem solving attitude. I am a quick learner and I am good at seeing connections and building on the ideas of others.Challenge is one of my main drivers, which results in me setting ambitious goals, both for my work and when it comes to my personal development. In the last years I have been focusing on leadership and communications skills. My main development goal is to develop into a leader that is able to build and lead an efficient team. I believe that mutual trust, communication and a structured vision pave the way towards an outperforming team with high energy that is both innovative and strong on deliverables. I have already had small opportunities to explore my leadership style and I am now looking for my next opportunity to further develop as a leader.What is my technical background?I work as a researcher within the cell biology department at Enza Zaden. Within my research I mainly focus on developing genome editing protocols and cell and tissue culture methods for the regeneration of GE plants for a variety of vegetable crops. Next to my research on Genome editing, I am also responsible for and have experience in:- Transfer and implementation of research protocols in a production lab. This process starts from a technical protocol transfer and builds up to a mature production protocol where stakeholder management, process management and planning are central aspects.-Role of local ‘onderzoeksleider’ where I ensure that we have/get the right facilities and permits for our work with GMO/GE methods, according to Dutch law.-Role of Vice president of the Dutch Works Council of Enza Zaden. With my role in the daily board of the works council, I work with a team of motivated colleagues from all corners of the company. The work council acts as the link between the employees and the board. Through this roles I have gained a deeper and broader understanding of business operations by discussing and giving advice on topics such as : Strategic plans and investments, Learning and development policies, reward and salary strategies and other company policies that have an effect on employees.
